This itinerary offers the best of South Africa....from excellent game viewing in Kruger National Park, to the heart of the Zulu Battlefields where illuminating and dramatic evocations of epic battles and heroic and moving personal deeds will unfold in the stories of struggles that took place; to the wild beaches of the Indian Ocean and onward to the urban heart of southern Africa, Cape Town, with its brilliant colors and magnificent vistas.

Fashioned in colonial ‘Out of Africa’ style, Selati Lodge nestles under the majestic Acacia trees that line the Msuthlu River. Situated between the Sabi and Sand Rivers, Selati lies on an animal migration path, which sees game traverse to and from the Kruger National Park and Sabi Sand Reserve. To visit Selati is to visit times of old, with oil lamps and stories from the rangers and staff illuminating the nights. Small, exclusive and romantic, Selati’s suites offer intimacy with a dash of colonial opulence.

With its organic architecture merging with the environment, creating an earthy vitality that pervades every room, Earth Lodge is a sanctuary for the mind and soul. Complete with Zen Garden and Spa, it is designed to impart a sense of seclusion and privacy. It is this respect for the land that Earth Lodge’s culture imbues the guest with. Along with its legendary safaris in the Sabi Sabi Reserve, the lodge’s aim is to let nothing stand in way of rekindling your bonds with the earth.

Rocktail Bay Lodge, situated in the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, is the perfect place for the viewing of a most unique creature -the giant sea turtle. During the summer months, when the sea turtles come onshore to lay their eggs, guests are able to accompany the resident turtle expert on research drives at low tide at night, helping to monitor the turtles’ nesting sites and behavior. Other activities include fly-fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving, walks and drives to the surrounding areas and community. Accommodation is in eleven en-suite tree-house chalets, each with its own private balcony and outdoor shower in the forest.

Situated in the heart of the Zulu Battlefields, family owned and operated Fugitive’s Drift offers historical tours of the legendary battles of Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift. Guided tours on foot or horseback are hosted by qualified historical guides and give guests an informative insight into the complexity of South Africa’s remarkable history. Besides these historical tours, the scenery in the area is stunning and there are plenty of chances for exploring. The rooms of the lodge are large and airy offering a relaxing environment between excursions.

The Victoria & Alfred Hotel is one of the most popular boutique hotels in the Cape Town Waterfront area. Rooms offer fantastic views of the harbour and Table Mountain,  each being spacious, elegant and tastefully decorated. Situated right on the harbour, the hotel offers easy access to all Waterfront amenities and restaurants, and is the perfect  base from which to explore the highlights of Cape Town.
